The king was so impressed with Daniel’s wisdom that he appointed him as chief over all the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and wise men of Babylon. Daniel then asked the king to tell him his dream and its interpretation. The king replied, “No wise man or magician, enchanter or diviner can explain it to me. But you can because the Spirit of the Holy God is in you.”
Daniel went away and prayed to God for help. Then he returned to the king and said, “This is what your dream means: You were standing by a river when a large statue appeared before you. The head of this statue was made of gold, its chest and arms were silver, its belly and thighs were bronze, its legs were iron, and its feet were a mixture of iron and clay.
Daniel went on to explain that these different metals represented different kingdoms that would rise up in the future. The feet made of iron mixed with clay represented an earthly kingdom that would be divided but remain strong for a time. Then Daniel concluded by saying: “But in the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or given to another people. It will crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end..”
The Heart of a King

For the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our King
The Lord is truly all-encompassing and omnipotent. He serves as a judge, lawgiver and king in our lives. He makes sure that justice is served and that we are able to live in harmony with one another. He provides us with laws to live by so that we can have order in society. The Lord also serves as a king who brings us security and protection from harm.
He will save us
The Lord will save us from any danger or evil that may come our way. He will be there to guide us through the hard times and provide us with strength and courage when we are feeling helpless. We can rest assured knowing that God will always be there for us when we need Him.
He will give us peace
The Lord will give us peace of mind so that we can focus on what truly matters. He will help us find inner tranquility so that we can stay positive and motivated to achieve our goals. We can trust in the Lord to bring about a sense of stability and assurance in all areas of life.
He will be our fortress
The Lord shall be a fortress for those who seek refuge in Him. He offers safety from danger, comfort from distress, and hope for a better future. He is a stronghold who will never abandon or forsake His children even in their darkest moments. Through Him, we can find strength and courage to face any obstacle or challenge that may come our way.
This verse from Isaiah 33:22 reminds us that no matter what situation or circumstance we may find ourselves in, the Lord is always there to provide guidance, protection, and peace of mind for His people.
The Pharisees Try to Trick Jesus
The Pharisees were always trying to trip up Jesus. This time they came to him with a question in an attempt to get him into trouble with the Roman authorities. They asked, “Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” Knowing their hypocritical hearts, Jesus replied, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”
They brought him one coin and he asked them whose image was on it and whose inscription. They answered that it was the image of Caesar and his inscription. Then Jesus said, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:15-22).
In this way, Jesus avoided giving a direct answer that might have caused him problems with either the Jewish authorities or the Romans. At the same time, he gave a profound answer that served as a reminder of our spiritual obligations to God—we must give him our loyalty and obedience above all else.
