The Bible speaks of eternity in heaven in many different ways. In the New Testament, Jesus often speaks of a heavenly reward for those who believe in Him and follow His teachings. In the Old Testament, God frequently refers to the afterlife as a place of joy and peace. Regardless of how it is described, eternity in heaven is always seen as something good and desirable. It is a place where those who have accepted Jesus will spend eternity enjoying the blessings of life with God forevermore.”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Revelation 14:13

Revelation 21:4
The Bible states in Revelation 21:4 that “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” This verse speaks of a time when God will bring an end to death and all suffering. It is a reminder that even in the midst of tragedy and grief, there is still hope for a better future. The promise of God to wipe away our tears and free us from pain is one of great comfort.
For those who are facing difficult times, this verse can serve as an encouragement to keep going and not give up. It reminds us that although we may not understand why certain things happen in life, God will eventually bring good out of it all. We may not see the end result right now but one day we will be able to look back on our lives and know that it was all part of God’s plan.
The promise in Revelation 21:4 is a reminder that although life can be filled with sadness and sorrow at times, there is still hope for a brighter future. No matter what we face in this life, we can trust that God has a plan for us and He will always be with us through it all.
John 14:2-3
In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
The Lord Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in the Upper Room just before His crucifixion. He promised them that He was preparing a place for them in His Father’s house. He said that after He had prepared a place for them, He would come back and take them to be where He is – in Heaven with the Father. This was an assurance of their eternal salvation through faith in Him – that they would one day join Him in Heaven where they would dwell forever with Him and the Father.
Psalm 16:11
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; thou holdest my lot. This verse from Psalm 16:11 speaks to us of the sovereignty of God in our lives. He holds our lot, the portion of life that we are allotted. He ensures that all of us have a fair and just share in life’s blessings. We can trust God to determine what is best for us, even when our circumstances may not seem ideal.
The psalmist also reminds us that the Lord is our chosen portion and cup. In other words, God has chosen us to be part of His family and has given us His grace and love to sustain us. He has provided a way for us to come into right relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins so that we might have eternal life. We can know that whatever happens in our lives is part of God’s plan for good, even if it doesn’t seem so at the time.
God holds our lot in His hands and will never let go. No matter what comes our way, He promises to be with us always and never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Knowing this gives peace and assurance in times of trouble or uncertainty. We can trust God to guide our paths as we seek Him and His will for our lives (Proverbs 3:5-6).
An Eternal Transformation
Paul speaks of a transformation that takes place in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54. He describes it as an eternal transformation, one that will occur in the blink of an eye. The transformation is from mortality to immortality, and it is a change that can never be reversed. Paul writes that when the transformation occurs, our bodies will be changed to become like Christ’s glorious body.
At this point, we shall no longer experience death or decay. We will have new incorruptible bodies in which we shall live forever; the exact nature of these bodies is not entirely clear. What we do know is that they will be glorified and perfect in every way. We shall experience a spiritual and physical renewal, being free from all sickness and sorrows and filled with joy and peace for eternity.
Paul explains that this transformation is only possible through the power of God’s grace; it is His divine plan to save us from our mortality and give us everlasting life with Him in Heaven. We are enabled to partake in this transformation by faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior; through Him, we are made new creations with eternal life promised to us as a result of His sacrifice on our behalf.
Heavenly Building
The Bible speaks of a heavenly building in 2 Corinthians 5:1-4. It is described as a building not made with human hands, but eternal in the heavens. Paul tells us that we are “groaning” to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling. He says that while we are in this earthly body, we are absent from the Lord, but when we die and are clothed with our heavenly dwelling, then we will be with the Lord. We have a longing for this heavenly building and cannot wait until the day when we will receive it.
Paul also tells us that while on this earth, we are pressed down by our earthly bodies and groan inwardly. He acknowledges that this tent of ours on earth has been destroyed, yet he declares that there will come a day when we will receive an imperishable one from heaven. This is why he encourages us to set our hearts on things above and not on earthly things.
We must remember that our bodies here on earth are temporary; they will one day be gone and replaced by an imperishable body from heaven. This should cause us to live differently than people who do not believe in Jesus or have hope of an eternal home in heaven. Knowing that there is something better coming should motivate us to live lives of holiness and righteousness before God and others.
The Judgment of the Nations
Matthew 25:46 is part of Jesus’ parable about the judgment of nations. In this passage, Jesus speaks of the eternal destiny of the nations. He says that those who have done good will inherit the kingdom prepared for them since the creation of the world, while those who have done evil will be sent to everlasting punishment. This passage emphasizes that God judges all people according to their deeds, and that all must answer for their sins.
The judgment of nations is a major theme in Scripture, beginning in Genesis when God declared that He would judge all nations according to their actions. This theme continues throughout Scripture and culminates in Revelation where God judges all people and separates them into two categories: those who are blessed and those who are cursed.
In Matthew 25:46, Jesus makes it clear that this judgment will be based on how individuals treat others. Those who have treated others with kindness and mercy will be invited into God’s eternal kingdom, while those who have neglected or harmed others will be cast out into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. This passage serves as a reminder to us all to always treat others with kindness and mercy because we never know when we might be called upon to answer for our deeds before God’s throne.
Hebrews 11:16
Hebrews 11:16 states that, “But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.” This verse speaks of how those who have faith in Christ desire a heavenly country. It explains how God is not ashamed to be called their God, as He has prepared for them a city in Heaven.
The phrase “a better country” implies that the life we have on Earth is not the best life possible. Although we experience joy, peace and satisfaction here on Earth, Heaven will be even better. The idea of Heaven being an eternal home free from pain and suffering attracts us.
The verse also expresses how God prepares a city for those who choose Him and believe in His Son Jesus Christ. This city will be free of all worldly cares and sorrows and will be filled with joy unspeakable and love unexplainable. The fact that God is not ashamed to call Himself their God shows His great love for us and His desire that we should come into His fold and experience the joy of being one with Him forever in Heaven.
Conclusion
The bible is full of verses that speak to the eternal nature of heaven and the joy that awaits us there. In Revelation 21:3-4, we see a glimpse of what eternity in heaven looks like: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore” (ESV). This verse shows us that in heaven death has no power and that our sorrows can be wiped away.
In 1 Corinthians 2:9 we are given a glimpse of the glory that awaits us in eternity: “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” (ESV). This verse speaks to us of an unimaginable beauty and joy that awaits us in eternity if we follow God’s ways.
In Matthew 25:34 Jesus tells us about his reward for those who have followed his commandments: “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (ESV). This verse speaks to us about how we can prepare ourselves for an eternity in heaven by following Jesus’ teachings here on earth.
From these verses it is clear that there is much to look forward to in eternity if we strive to live a life pleasing to God. Heaven awaits us with open arms if we accept Christ into our hearts and obey His commands. May these verses encourage us all as we strive towards eternal life with our Lord.
